I also think that Google is going down the same path that Windows experienced around the time of Windows ME. The latest releases and releases appear to be less and less thought out and I feel that rushed to attempt to be a first to market, and compete with a competitors release. The breach of privacy was something that did not require a rocket scientist to figrue out, a very basic review could have identified such issues.
