Samsung Galaxy Note in-depth Review
I did the unboxing of the Galaxy Note a couple of weeks back which is the largest Android phone that you can current get sporting a huge 5.3″ SAMOLED HD screen sporting a resolution of 1280 x 800px and this phone is made by Samsung and currently their flagship Android phone and certainly a unique Android phone and brings to us some new things and I have the full review of this phone.
Regarding some of the other features like GPS it locks pretty fast to the satellites for GPS navigation and also using google maps is a good experience coz of the large screen, also I used the front facing camera for video chats with popular applications like Skype and QIK and they worked great on the Galaxy Note but this phone at-least the version that is sold in India lacks the NFC functionality else it has all the features that you can expect from a high end Android phone.

@Harman10somal: Not that if you taken into account the screen size SAMOLED screen and specs that go with this phone, actually it is pretty cheap in India in other countries it’s approx 38K and compared to iphone 4S its a lot cheaper

I don’t see a market for this. Too big to be a phone, too small to be a tablet. You can’t really have both, if I want a tablet I’ll get a 7-11 inch screen. If I want a phone I’ll get a 3-4.3 inch screen.

@TheMightyHarihar Yes, I agree with you my opinion about this phone is hust the same neither a proper smartphone nor a proper tablet.If you try to define it as a tablet it’s towards the smartphone and when you try to define it as a smartphone it’s towards tablet.

@vasoo101: I hate to comment but this is a great phone yeah I too thought that the 5.3″ screen size might be uncomfortable but after using it for a day or so I got used to the same and now I cannot even find the 4″ screen phones comfortable to use, BTW those using a 3.2 – 3.5″ just even move to a 4″ screen and see how much better experience it is.
@TheMightyHarihar Its not too big to be a phone.. it fits in peoples pockets and functions like any other smart phone for taking and making calls.. The market is for people who want the largest screen possible on the go.

@geekyranjit I have had the exact same experience. After using this for a week, the size does not bother me at all. Infact, now when I look at my friends iPhone3Gs, the screen feels cramped, colours look washed out & resolution unbearably low… Did I mention the SAMOLED Blacks are to die for?If Sammy doesn’t make a Note2 with 1080p resolution, I don’t know what I will eventually upgrade to? Nothing else seems right.
@TheMightyHarihar Alternatively, some people do not want to be boggled down by the weight of carrying both. Instead of getting a tablet and a phone, why not get a Note? 0_0.
@SouthernRiprey: Can’t agree more, that is the main reason I got this phone…… Coz over the year I noticed that I was not carrying my iPad a lot coz of the size but my phone goes with me.

Great review there. I just got this phone a week back. I love the screen size. I wouldn’t say the battery life is great. Yes, I noticed some lag too, but I have noticed it only when I open the task manager and force stop processes and go back to my home screen. I also notice that the back region gets heated up (not so much as your pc) during heavy usage, could it be a reason for lag? (Just wondering). Its a decent phone, love browsing on it

@cjjadeja: If you are just 15 I am guessing your hands are bit small……. I would say first go to a store and check it out how it feels physically then decide. It fits fine in my normal jeans pocket, I mostly keep in my pocket but skin tight jeans I would not do that.

@suupervarun: Both the phones are good choices, the screen on S2 is SAMOLED which is way better than XE Skin I say the Sense UI is a bit better…… so it a personal preference, I would still personally prefer S2 just coz of the light weight and screen.

@AkThe007: Yes the Note has Polaris office pre-installed so you can edit / view office documents….. I think so even S2 has Polaris Office but I am not 100% sure about the same.

@lazereye67: Yes it does have speech recognition also it has Vlingo software but I do not use it that much coz with indian accent its not that accurate.

@lazereye67: If you do not download stuff from au-authorized sources or manually upload apk files then you are are IMHO if you just download stuff from Android Market place it’s relatively safe….. If you want u can install Avast mobile security I have made a video regarding that its free and I have it installed it on my Note.

Hi Ranjeet,i have installed couple of apps on my note.when i go to settings>storage,it says USB Storage avlb space 10.84 GB, under that we have System Storage Avlb space 1.74GB.When i install any app,i knw tht it is instlling on Sys Storage as the Avlb Space goes less.My question is why note is not using USB Storage Space to store apps and anythng else.Is der a way to chnge dis setting so tht device installs only on USB storage Memory and not Sys Storage.If sys storage is ful,will note go slow?

It depends what you do most with your phone. You can’t go wrong with the note though. I think Samsung struck the nail dead on the center this time. With many people using their phones for mobile gaming, messaging, emails, browsing and gps, the note offers a great sized screen which satisfies those needs. If you are more of a calls person who wants something small to slip into pockets of your skinny jeans, then the S2 would be the better choice.

thanks for the review ranjit..i bought the note about 6 monts back…and have just upgraded to ics.. one problem stil remains unsloved is the battery life..with upgrade to ics..now the battery discharges more quickly than it was on gingerbread…but over i am happy with the performance of the phone…do you have any idea when samsung will come out in india with note 2…i am eagarly waiting for it to come out..also can u give and idea about pricing of note 2 in thanks a lot ranjit for ur tym.
