Motorola Atrix 2 is an dual core android phone that currently ships with android 2.3 gingerbread but the Atrix 2 will get the ICS aka android 4.0 update and this is a very snappy android dual core phone and comes with 8 MP camera and sports the 4.3″ qhd screen and a in-depth review of the same.

Another fantastic review! Not much a fan of the Motorola UI but still looks great!
Yeah I am also not a fan of Moto UI but otherwise this phone is very good.
Why buy Motorola when you get an iPhone for almost the same cost?

Seems like a decent phone. Motorola seem to make phones with good build quality and the best battery life of all the main Android Phone makers. However it seems that camera lets it down slightly. Anyway good review.

But the iOS is the best UI(user interface) in the history of mobile devices!I did’nt really like the UI of this particular phone.
When you unlock the phone(slide) the sounds are almost similar to the iPhone!And the pinch to zoom is also a feature introduced with the iPhone
I do not want to argue over iOS or Android device, I have used iPhone earlier but migrated to Android over 2 years ago and now cannot look back at iPhone….. but again if you like iOS use the iPhone. Android I would say is for power users who would like to customize the phone without getting into stuff like jail-breaking it’s more open and allows you to do whatever u like unlike iOS for example if u do not like the stock UI or the SMS app on iphone can u replace it without Jailbreak.
does the browser support text reflow Ranjit ??
No not the default browser…. as far as I recall only HTC phones default browser does full text reflow….. for other android phone if you want text reflow install opera mobile that does text reflow.
is the performance of this phone as good as the Motorola RAZR?? Ranjit im asking u coz u have thouroughly tested both the phones!!
In fact u might be surprised it performed a little better than Razr in browsing performance….. its a very good and a fast phone IMHO it’s just the camera is average.

No I did not notice any heating issues while testing, but while playing games it gets a bit warm but not hot.

+Ve about Razr is a lot more sleeker and slimmer has SAMOLED screen…… but no removable battery and micro SIM, I like the overall performance of the Atrix 2 so in my opinion for around 22K for a dual-core phone right now its the best deal int the market….. play with both phones in a store and then decide which one u like more.

gta 4 is u can say the game 4 dual cores which test them to thier possible limitsasphalt 6,modern combat 3 etc test single cores(1ghz or above with dedicated gpu) to thier limitsfruit ninja and angry birds are for 1ghz or less(with or without dedicated gpu)pls use above mentioned as basis of judgement for gamingas a reviewer its u responsibility to present true and fair view,if u intentionally or un-intentionaly present a wrong view than u cud screw up somebody’s decision to go 4 it or not
and in ur reviews pls use nenamark 2 benchmark alongside quadrant to test graphic capabilities of androids with dedicated gpu and pls do mention whether d phone is having gpu or not and if yes than which and how latest or good it is!!incorporate these cahnges and see the diffrence they ll make in ur subscribers cuz mostly gamers buy dual core phones and they wanna know all about gpu’s and nenamark’s and stuff like me…hope u ll do the needfull,,peace

@sahilchhabra27: Actually most of the audience that watch my video are already confused and hence I do not post info which GPU is there example Mail or Adreno as I think it would confuse more, I stress more on the generic performance of the phone rather than specs coz I have seen dual core phones that perform like shit when compared to single core phones or vice-versa the overall performance and snappiness of the phone is more imp to the end user rather than raw specs and I stress more on that.
@sahilchhabra27: Regarding gaming performance u are right I do not put must stress on that coz I feel almost every android phone with just 20-25 mins of gaming battery drains like crazy….. Yeah but u are right I should start doing 3 gaming test on light usage like angry birds, mid-range games and other for dual core phones thanks for your suggestion…. well I used to post benchmarks in my earlier reviews but stopped as not many users asked but again I think I will start including them.
I agree wid u sir.people seem to care less but d ones which do and r ur subscribers and others who do,u pls fo it them as its an important aspect.value 4 money is affected by this.for eg moto razr xt910(28500rs) which u reviewd is priced similar to s2.both have same clock speed&super amoled’s.but razr uses outdated gpu(powersgx40) which was found on galaxy s i9000(not s2) 27fps max power,s2 uses mali400,49 fps max powerso for the similar price u get half the graphic capabilities of s2,

The only disadvantage I see is the Camera its not top-notch compared to other 8 MP cameras….. other than that I did not find any other issues or I experienced any lag while testing the phone.

@anujrana9 Yes Samsung has launched the Galaxy S Advance which is also a dual core phone but they have priced it such stupidly at around 26K that I am not even going to bother to review it.

Hi Ranjit, excellent review as always. But there are a lot of bugs in the phone according to the users like the vibration during silent goes off on its own, applications from the sd card disappears and some issue with messaging which requires restart. I found those in the official moto users forum, so can you help us out, if you had faced any of these problems over the time when you used the phone, that could be very help ful.

Yes, If you watched the entire video, I had already mentioned in the video that Motorola is going to update this phone to ICS in the 3rd quarter of 2012.

Yeah the HTC One V indeed has a better screen, but still if I were u I would go with the Atrix 2 coz it has a dual core processor, 1 GB RAM and has front facing camera.

i m the user of atrix 2, i have been using it for the past two months i would like to say dat its the best phone i have had…there were no disappering apps,even i did a research before buying this phone..i found that using class 10 memory cards is the main reason for this..and i bought class 6 memory card wer i found no issues like disappering apps…
ranjit,i have done a research all over the market regarding various smartphones for the range of 20-23k.. And i am pretty convinced to buy atrix 2 (95%) . Can u please clear two queries i have regarding this device.Can regularly changing SIM cards cause a problem in such devices ?And one other thing, can we use the simple 2G data plan for Airtel/ Voda etc ? What do you mean by regularly changing SIM, Its okay to do once or twice a month I would say coz if you do it every other day your SIM contacts might wear off over time.Yes you can use a simple 2G data plan with the phone no problems.

FANTASTIC REVIEW!!!!!!!!i am about to buy this mobile. i am in chennai, i enquired about this phone in Unversal and poorvika shops etc. But it’s not available there. i could see this phone is available in FLIPKART. In website they mentioned only 2 color Licorice and white..which color would suits well for this mobile?? May i know the color of the mobile which u used in video, It’s black or Licorice????
@Dhinesh: In the review, the unit I used was the black or whatever they call it Licorice, I feel in India hot and humid conditions white variants get dirty very easily if you go out a lot.

@Ranjit: I have zeroed in on Atrix 2 and Galaxy S Plus… The S Plus seems to have good battery backup and usb 3.0 compared to Atrix 2(usb 2.1)…
Besides that Atrix has better camera, bigger screen and dual core compared to the S Plus…
Plz help me decide on which of these two phones i must go.. It would help if you point out the highlights of the mobile in terms of usage and not in terms of specs…

I bought Atrix 2 mobile from univercell chennai 1 week ago n after using it i m very much impressed by it. But after 2 to 3 days i face a problem regarding my music player. The problem is that the music player start automatically without pressing any button while playing video n other application. Can anyone help me out regarding this issue???

I finally got the Atrix 2 and its a helluva phone. Thanks @geekyranjit . Got it from Faizul’s communication for 21.3k. Got the licorice one. Battery is amazing and am on stock.

i drained 50% of my battery for 12hrs which included 3-4 hrs of gaming, 1 hr of whatsapp, gprs on continous, 2 hrs of wifi… a 100% charge gives me minimum 24hrs… awesome phone !! A2 is such an underdog. It has all the needed apps builtin hence no need to search for the best app that takes less battery n all that crap. ram usage is just 300MB with 30-50 apps and its amazing !!

Atrix 2 is a great phone! Great battery life…phone just overall get a 9 out of 10 rating!
I am confused whether to purchase a Atrix 2 or Galaxy Advance/R. Does the absence of an AMOLED screen make any difference for the Atrix 2? How does the 8MP camera fair against the Galaxy Advance 5MP camera in low light? I am confused since Advance has a 1.3MP front cam while Atrix 2 has just a VGA cam. I intend to use skype(I have a MTNL unlimited 3g data plan). I have a budget of 20-23K. Please suggest.
@atrixvsadvance: As of now Samsung has not mentioned anything about the ICS update for Galaxy Advance, also the camera on the Atrix 2 is better than the Advance so expect for the SAMOLED screen the Atrix 2 looks like a better deal, also the battery life on Atrix 2 is way better than S advance.

@ Ranjit – Atfer looking at your review i bought Atrix 2, must tell you it is a lovely phone, great to hold, a real show off. As you mentioned, camera is good but not among the best. But this phone has one particular issue which i saw on the net that has happened to other guys is the signal disappears on its on and it says emergency call and though all function of the phone works you can’t make any calls as there isn’t any network. It got ok after 3-4 days on its own, i am keeping my fingers crossed now. Also when you dial some number you hear double ring sometime going to that person, or i can say you hear the ring and some disturbance while the call is not picked but after picking calls are smooth.Just wanted to share, thanks and keep writing great reviews to help us….

I have read online that it only works with 64k sims. I am currently using an idea sim which is I believe 16k. So will I have to change my sim or service provider?

The Atrix 2 has the best battery life, If I were u I would choose between the S advance or the Atrix 2, I would suggest check both the phones in a store and then decide.
I heard that this phone plays ONLY HD videos(even though it supports a variety of formats…). Is there any truth in that??? Hardly expecting a reply from ranjit ….

I would say decide between X900 or the Atrix 2 but Atrix 2 battery life is a little bit better IMHO, the best option would be to check out both the phones in the store and then decide which one you like more.

@amburahul The phone has the option to play any quality so don’t worry about that rumor.
After 2 months review is that battery is good gives 20 hrs easily with 6-7 hrs with wifi, 3-4 hrs of gaming with gta3, dead space etc all hd games run without any lag. No issues with signal drop, voice quality is good. No heating problem.

@Atul: I would not recommend u update it over 2G coz the update file size would be pretty large, it’s best to update it over WiFi over a good internet connection.

Would Atrix 2 still be a Good buy or S advance would be preferable? Hello Sir, A very nice review. To begin with, i would like to ask about the CM10 version on the Atrix 2. Its not going to get the JB update so CM10 update will work fine? Also, Motorola after sales support is a bit of gamble now, with the recent downsizing of the google-owned-motorola mobility in india. So, should i prefer S advance over this because of samsung’s after sales service? Or does this phone work fine without any major mfg defects? Please throw some light on this matter. Thank you.

its a superb phone I’ve been using it for the past one month … updated to ICS 4.0 …after update there’s no issue atall .. all the apps are working smoothly … smooth touch .. good battery backup .. i think the camera is above average … its not that bad .. impressive flash light .. nightmode is good …

1.sony xperia p,2.motorola razor xt910,3.motorola atrix2. which mobile is going to get at my budget . and rate at flipkart abt motorola atrix2 is 18000 can i trust it n buy from flipkart .one more thing i fear to buy from grey market i.e they will assemble internally is it right.
@Sandeep: You can trust flipkart there are India’s biggest online store and pretty good at their services.
Regarding Motorola I am a bit hesitant to recommend their products as of now in India coz I have not idea about their plans in India and they have also stopped launching new models of Motorola phones in India.

Yep I am not recommending motorola products as of now in India coz I am also very unclear about their focus in India and long term plans if you notice motorola has stopped launching any news models in India for the last several months.

Ranjit , im confused between this phone and the new lumia 620. this phone has excellent specs and the price is dropping because of the shut down of operations in india. nokia still haven’t put out a price on the 620. should i just go for the motorola before it goes out of stock or wait for the lumia ? and also will motorola retain customer services in india for their existing products ?
I can’t comment about lumia 620 as I havent tested it and its windows phone and I feel windows phone still is not a great OS and the app selection is also not great, I like the Atrix 2 as a phone it’d hardware and performance is best at the current price point but again as you know Google is shutting down Motorola phone ops in India but they did mention that they would still service the phones that were sold so its ur call.
