Free Push email on your android phone
Did you know that you can easily get free push email on your android phones just like blackberry phones where the email is almost instantly shown whenever it’s sent to you, and the best part is that you need not pay anything for push email, I will show you how to get the same on your android phone.
Last summer when I was planning to go for a new phone I was in the dilema of choosing a new smart phone platform as Symbian on my Nokia was just not up to the task, for me email is kind of important for me hence I was leaning towards blackberry (due to just the push email) but I just don’t like the blackberry phones form factor and the entire platform as such also I did not want to pay extra monthly fee for blackberry push email services.
Personally I prefer using a touch screen phones as the overall multimedia and the web experience on the same is much better and I am used to touch screen phone as I have been using the for a while I also liked the android platform this is when I came to know that push-email is just one of the features that can be used with an android phone and that too you get it for free, I have been using push email with my HTC android phone for quite some time and I thought I would share with you how easy it is to setup push email on an android phone.
I have listed two videos below this first one is for setting up push email if you have a gmail account and the second video is for people who have non gmail accounts / corporate emails with there own domain and in the second video I show how to setup push email for these types of accounts, I know many people who want to go for an Android phone but are sticking with Blackberry just coz they cannot get the push email to work for there corporate email accounts and by using this method listed in the second video they can also take advantage of push email on the Android phone.
I have done a video explaining how to setup push email on your android phone.
Push email setup for other email accounts (non gmail version)
Do note that for push-email to work you need to have some sort of data-service enabled like GPRS / EDGE or 3G connectivity on your android phone, I have also noticed that the push-email notifications are not instant there is a slight delay upto a minute in receiving the email on your phone, if you are have been using push-email on your android phone please share your feedback in the comments section.

If you are in India and planning to buy books / mobile / gadgets online, I suggest you have a look at flipkart. It is one of the best online store in India and they offer free home delivery and cash on delivery for most products.

Hi Ranjit,
This is good, but this is for gmail, which is anyways pretty easy. Can you help with corporate e-mail accounts? I used to do it with Blackberry, which was quite simple, but finding it difficult on Xperia X10. Moxier doesn’t help either
To get free push email on Android then you would need to setup a gmail a/c and forward email from your corporate a/c to this gmail email a/c then you would get the emails push…… there are some third party software that you can use directly with your corporate email but again those are not free something like http://www.nitrodesk.com/TouchDown.aspx (please note I have not used this application so cannot comment on the same).
Thanks for the nice video demo. just wanted to know how to set up push mail for other accounts like yahoo, hotmail or even personal email taken from net4.in
Can we configure our office email (pop) as push mail in Android ? Please reply
@Sam: Yes it is possible I will shortly make a video on how to do the same.
Hey Ranjit,Thanks for great updateCan all this pushmail data automatically fillup by application or we required all this data ready via our company IT Dept ?- S i D
@sshirwadkar: No the app will determine the most common setup values, but if your IT dep has setup some unique setup that do not use the common port values then you need to consult them.
Hey Ranjit… What about the Exchange Active Sync.. what is it and how it works…
Is it possible to sync accounts using this method as well….
Is it possible on Iphone as well… or will it happen only through iCloud
No idea if this works on iOS (iphone).
Cheers,
Ranjit
Many thanks for this nice explain Video.
Push Email is very useful and it’s free (I was not knowing).
Thanks for saving My Money for opting BB or Paid Gmail account for business Mail.
@geekyranjit Ranjit, can you not use POP for push? In your demo you talk about Imap but I like Pop
@cloudtech1: No works on manual polling so cannot be used for push email, but you can set your pop email frequency to a low setting like be checked every 10 mins of so.
Hi geekyranjit,Appreciate your uploading this video with instructions. I tried everything to make push Yahoo work on my Samsung Epic touch by following your instructions, but I am unable to make the push work. After setup, I am able to get all my folders and mails, but pushing does not happen after that. I have to perform manual refreshes.Do you know of existing issues of push Yahoo with Samsung? It seems to work on HTC, I believe.Any help is appreciated! Thank you!
thanks ranjit for the video.
i was just wondering as i have got samsung note and delay in mails.i used k 9 but not quiet happy with it.i used iphone which had this fantastic mail push which is missing with the note official mailing system.can you help me with the set up of push mail for this official software of samsung note.

@edenambalaj: You are welcome
It was really good I have my. Work. Email. All my emails come in but I can not send any mail email
@Mrdebby10: If you can’t send emails looks like your SMTP server settings are a bit different, check with your IT department for the same, it might be that the port they have set for SMTP server might be different other common ports from the default is port 25 but check with your hosting provider or IT dept.
Hi, I am using Corporate email. I followed all your steps accurately. However the mails are not being pushed to my phone.
I have set it up for 100 messages. K9 mail brings down the 100 messages only for the first time. Then it does not bring down anything. Thinking that 100 messages is the limit, i deleted few mails, still no luck.
Please help.
