The broadband revolution was kick started in India by BSNL broadband service known as Dataone around Jan 2005, Seriously before BSNL broadband, the so call broadband that was given by local cable wallas and they were proud to call 64kpbs as broadband some even advertised 32kpbs as broadband, I am glad that at least that is over now, but it’s almost 3 years from the start of broadband revolution let’s take a view how far we have reached in terms of broadband penetration in India.

| So the browser wars are indeed heating up, You might already known that Firefox 3 is scheduled to come in 2008 currently the beta is available, but IE8 in 2008 is a surprise to me coz IE7 was released in October 2006, IE 7 required Windows XP with SP2 and was also later on bundled with MS Vista. |

What surprises me is that IE6 was released in Aug 2001 and, it took Microsoft’s IE team about 5 odd years to get to IE7 (in Oct 2006) and now just after one and a half years we might have IE8.

* Internet Explorer is more commonly known as “the Internet” when you say “open the Internet”, you mean opening IE. You have no idea what a “browser” is, or that there are alternatives to IE.
* Even search engines aren’t excluded from the above; to go to Yahoo, you search for “yahoo” in MSN Search or Google (whichever you use as your start page).
* You’d never even think of using the Internet for leisure or learning; there’s nothing even vaguely interesting there. (Exception: chat rooms and MSN Messenger are cool. You can even meet babes!) Any new page you visit is because a friend or co-worker emailed the link to you.
