iMac Aluminimum Wired keyboard

The aluminum keyboard that you get with the iMac is carved out of a single sheet of aluminum its very slim and  looks more like a laptop keyboard with chicklet type keys but is a pleasure to use, its the ideal keyboard to go with an iMac and has all the hot keys that go hand in hand with Mac-OS Leopard, the iMac keyboard also has 2 USB slots, one ideally connects to the mouse while the other can be used to plugin in Memory Sticks, phones etc again a great design feature so that you don’t have to lean back of your computer every time you plugin a USB memory stick or a portable removable device.

Apple Wired Mighty Mouse

The mouse that is bundled with iMac is known as the might mouse, it has just one button and a

track wheel, the mouse can work like a dual button mouse as it has sensors in it and it can detect the right click, the scroll wheel on the other hand can rotate 360 degrees and is a great feature but I found the mouse to be little sluggish to my liking as it an optical mouse and I am used to a laser mouse hence found it to be too slow to my liking, luckily any mouse works with a mac and I am using my normal 2 button laser mouse with the iMac, I do hope apple releases an updated version of the might mouse in the near future.

For the technically inclined iMac Aluminum 20” (2008 late edition) hardware specs

2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo Intel processor (dual core) with 6 MB L2 cache

1 GB DDR2 Ram @ 800 Mhz (I upgrade the RAM to 3 GB by adding one more 2 GB memory stick, this model can go to a max of 4 GB by using two 2 GB memory sticks)

250 GB hard disk

Super drive (dvd,cd reader-writer)

20” inch screen supporting 1680 x 1050 resolution

Graphics Integrated ATI Radeon HD 2400

Wi-Fi  (Airport Extreme) a/b/g & Draft N, Bluetooth

5 USB ports (2 on the keyboard) one 400 Mbps Firewire, one 800 Mbps Firewire port, one display port to add another monitor to your iMac.

You also get an infrared remote via which you can control itunes and Front row the media-center equivalent for Mac OS.

Speaking in lay-man terms  the configuration is a pretty powerful one expect for the graphic card, there are a couple of more iMac model the 24” inch model with better graphic cards and more powerful processors but if you are not planning to run games on the iMac this model is good enough and has enough muscle in it.

    Hi Harshit,

I had purchase the 20″ iMac 2.4 Ghz with 1 GB Ram for 55K but now the pricing has changed and the 20″ iMac has 2.66 Ghz processor with 2GB ram for around 64k.

BTW I have recently upgraded from 20″ iMac to 24″ iMac and the 24″ iMac was around 79k.

Pricing from apple store website http://www.apple.co.in/store/flash/imac/imac.html

    Cheers,
    Ranjit
