How to easily build a Hackintosh
Many of you have asked me to build a guide on making an Hackintosh computer (Hackintosh is a computer with typical PC components on which you run the Mac OS X) and I made an in-depth video guide on the same, I also discuss some of the things that are needed to make a Hackintosh.
To build an Hackintosh I use the procedure and tools by tonymacx86 also it is better to have a dedicated graphic card than using the integrated graphics on your motherboard it is better to first check your graphic cards to make sure it is compatible with the Hackintosh.
Again the success of your Hackintosh will depend upon the parts that are used, generally I found that motherboard based on Gigabyte and Asus work great and in particular Gigabyte motherboards, so before starting to make a Hackintosh I suggest you do a search with your particular Motherboard model to see if that works, after making the hackintosh you can do software updates like a regular Mac but before doing major software updates it is advisable to check tonymacx86 forums to make sure that a particular update does not break things as sometimes after major update you might need to again run Multibeast utility.

is it necessary to use retail copy ? can i use a backup copy?! like a burnd copy? cz i have also tried wit retail copy of leopard not snow it never got workin
i have tried it lik zillion times
very informative
@umran89: I always used the retail copy also what type of graphic card are u using…… that also is important generally you need a dedicated graphic card internal graphic cards i.e of motherboard are problematic….. check the tonymac forum with specific info about your motherboard and other devices.
@geekyranjit i m using intel i7 930 proc with an ATI 5850 HD , i hav check it apparently ppl say its compatibly n using a wx58bp motherboard

hi this video is really nice to install mac os can i install on intel pentium d processor and can i install mac os on AMD processor also pls reply
@shademims: I think so pentium D might work with iboot legacy personally not 100% sure….. but AMD processo no.
@umran89: Actually yes you need a Retail copy coz the disk that come with a Mac for example iMac or Macbook Pro they are just for that hardware hence a retail copy of Snow leopard is required.
@umran89: yeah that intel board must be the issue as it is a workstation board not a normal consumer class chipset motherboard.
Hey Ranjit you should do a review on SSD drive vs HDD drive explaining maybe which one is worth buying over one another and for what purpose?
@lyricallysikh1: yep I need to make a video regarding that, infact I did a detail write up article on my tech2buzz website about SSD.
or you can jus buy a macbook

@geekyranjit any recommendations?to get it working?

@umran89: I doubt if no one has made it with your chipset, you can try this site insanelymac add dot com to see if someone has luck with your motherboard.
@geekyranjit actually i did try goin tht forum once upon a time, and they told one person had exactly same specs as mine xcept the gfx card, and it did work!! ..issue was lik i had dis core 2 duo lappy too from HP pavillion series it never workd in there too
den i found dis guy in mumbai he s got 100%succes rate in installin hackintoshes, i contact him , but then its kinda stupid he was chargin lik 6k for installin it now thts heavy !

@Kabookster: Go to tonymacx86 DSDT database section and download the DSDT for the motherboard make sure you download the appropriate BIOS version….. use Multibeast and place that DSDT file on your desktop and use the same and restart…….. I must have done something silly coz I had to then manually enable the sound option and network again from multibeast and everything else worked fine on other kexts were needed.
@geekyranjit: I forgot to mention the big issue was updating to 10.6.8 as it was crashing after reboot earlier and it was due to my nvidia card hence after running the 10.6.8 combo update I had to run the nvidia update before rebooting you can download the patch from Nvidia site and I then I ran multibeast and did the above steps.
Hey Ranjit, can you tell me what post installation steps you took after installing Snow Leo on your Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3R-B3 ?

@glitchak: I personally did not try it there is a method to install it from the new launched USB Lion disk that were introduced a couple of weeks back see tonymac website for further instructions regarding the same, but as of now the preferred method is using SL retail installtion disk.

[...] Update: I have made an an step by step video guide on how to make an Hackintosh [...]
Mine crashed while trying to install the combo update. I started it back up, but it goes back to the grey screen with the apple logo. I haven’t found anyone having this issue. Has anyone encountered this?
@mattysmarshall: Visit tonymac forums there should be a work-around for the same if your motherboard is supported at times on some system you would need to go to 10.6.4 update first and from there proceed to go with 10.6.8 combo update, personally even for me updates went fine till 10.6.7 for 10.6.8 I had to manually edit some files before I could update otherwise it would crash It was the nvidia graphic updates that I had to do, please check the tonymac forums.

If everything is working fine on your Hackintosh do not forget to clone it to another HDD for a safe backup see my video on the same http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7b55sOi4Z4Q

So Multi-beast is the only way to get the latest drivers for GPU, Network & Audio cards?
So Multi-beast is the only way to get the latest drivers for GPU, Network & Audio cards?
Ranjit,
You mentioned in Aug in few weeks you will workout the issues with OS X Lion 10.7x and update. Were you able to install the 10.7.x aka Lion on your System?
You can install Lion if you hackintosh is running 10.6.8 but personally I did not like Lion coz some of the apps I regularly use do not work fine, in fact I removed Lion from my Macbook Air and went back to 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.
So I am not planing to install Lion right now on my Hackintosh may be a couple of months who knows but right now no.
Cheers,
Ranjit

Any pointers on the hardware list that you used for this one? I am trying to get components for a i7/i5 build, would be helpful if you can supply/publish the components that you used.
@Ravneet: All the parts that I used to make the i7 hackintosh http://www.tech2buzz.com/hardware/my-new-computer-a-core-i7-a-hackintosh
hey, i use the amd x2 phenom(black edition) with a gigabyte processor (i dont rem the name, but it is mid end, will update the name soon too)

I dont have a graphic card can I do this still?
@Anay: It might work but you will be stuck on a low resolution and no graphic acceleration etc will work, hence a dedicated compatible graphic card is recommended.

Hey Ranjit, great video, very helpful. Needed some advice,
I have the following specs for my PC, wanted to know if it would support a Hackintosh:
Intel i3-2100 – 3.1 GHz
Intel DH67VR Motherboard
4GB DDR3 Corsair RAM
Intel HD Graphics 1000 (GT1)
I’m desperate to build a Hackintosh and am on a very tight budget. Can arrange a Nvidia 9600 GT 1GB GPU. Do you think it’ll work with the above config. Is it worth giving it a try on a separate 80GB HDD lying around?
