Airtel Broadband new 4 Mbps Plans
It looks like the price wars in India’s broadband segment has finally started (and its a good thing) the recent aggressive plans by MTNL may have instigated Airtel and now they have launched new broadband plans with 4 Mbps speed Unlimited plans starting at Rs 899, but don’t get so excited as they have some very strict FUP policies with these plans.
I am still amazed with the marketing dept of Airtel as these plans though technically are unlimited but with the crazy FUP clause it does not look exciting, the FUP clause in these new plan reduce the speed to mere 256kpbs after you hit the FUP limits, but again these are excellent plans for consumers who do not use a lot of bandwidth, also if you look at these plans as if they are data-based plans they look fine and are much cheaper than the other private ISP providers, listed below are the four different 4 Mbps plans that have been introduced.
Also do note that as of now these new plans are only in the following cities Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Mumbai and Chennai and I am sure these plans will be rolled out in the next couple of months in the other parts of the country.
Double speed for existing broadband subscribers at no extra cost.
There is also another good news for existing Airtel broadband subscribers, Airtel has decided to double the broadband speed without any extra cost for its existing subscriber base so users with 256kbps will get 512kpbs, 512kbps will get 1 Mbps and 1 Mbps subscribers will get 2 Mbps, these is no clarity weather existing 2 Mbps subscribers will get 4 Mbps also this double speed will rolled gradually and be done by June 2010.
All this makes me think when will BSNL broadband wake up, the current plans of BSNL look like day light robbery MTNL and Airtel has rocked the market when are you going to wake up?

its all rubbish apart 4rm terms and conditions they should write one more thing ie subjected to technical feasiblity……………… i m living in gurgaon and its not available in my area becoz no feasiblity there i dont understand 4 mbps needs technical feasiblity really a shame on airtel as my friend is using 8 mbps bsnl in same area……………. a suggestion 4 airtel mark every plan with subjected to technical feasiblity……….. becoz their half of the plans are not available hell
Sagar yeah I can understand the technical feasibility issue due to the distance from DSLAM but I suggest you give it a try again after a couple of months, coz for me first they said the same when I wanted 8 Mbps connection but after a couple of months again I tried and I was able to get the same.
I am sure Airtel must be upgrading their infrastructure to support high speeds coz in the near future every ISP is going to offer high speed internet.
thanks ranjit sir
hope i will be able able to get the plan in a month or two
this is really not that big of a deal considering how the rest of the world is doing right now. although it is good that they are expanding their horizon bit by bit, i’d still like to know what exactly it is that’s holding these ISPs back seeing that in terms of other consumer technology india’s not that far behind the west
It appears that Airtel is having a technical problem giving 4Mbps speed on these new plans and have downgraded everyone to their old plans.
First Airtel sucks then second whatever Broadband plans they are selling are not unlimited in any way the reason because of fair usage policy what the fu*k how can you say unlimited plans when u apply terms like fair usage policy or contention ratio which is bullshi*t. I got Mtnl 1 mbps unlimited but it got contention ratio means shared bandwidth atleast its better than any private company selling broadband plans. I urge all indians not to go with airtel plans in anyway boycott it and complaint to TRAI using email or by post letter. These kind of companies need to be shut down immediately they are robbers which like to rob innocent customers by their fu*king cheap marketing strategy. The Airtel team who is bringing these type of sh*t plans must be hanged ASAP.
They are copying MTNL policies with their own cheap tactics what an assho*e airtel is by the way i got mtnl mobile connection and broadband too.. its rocks.
MTNL cheers…. forever

Nik you are correct the latest updated new plans form airtel sucks with their crazy FUP limits and after you hit the FUP you get dropped to 256kbps.
AIRTEL HAS EVEN NO ELIGIBILTY TO SUCK…!
