New Laptops use sealed battery for power
| If you have been using a laptop for a couple of years, you might have noticed that your battery is not giving you the performance that it used to give and that generally happens after 1- 2 years of usage, but you can easily purchase and replace the battery, but there is a new trend in the latest notebooks / netbooks manufactures have started using non-removable sealed batteries which are non-user replaceable, is it for good or bad find out. |

These new sealed batteries help the laptop to shed off some of it’s weight and they also promise to give more power per charge, they also claim to be chargeable around 3 times more than standard lithium ion (Li-ion) batteries.This new breed of of battery is called lithium polymer batteries and it’s in a shape of gel so computer manufactures can mold them however they like in the small laptop casing there by maximizing their capacity, but this lead to one down side, its not user-replaceable.
The good thing about these new lithium polymer batteries are.
* They provide more battery capacity per charge (30 – 40% more).
* Longer Life, lithium polymer can be charged around 800 -1000 times, Li-ion on the other hand deteriorates after about 250 – 350 charges.
* Sleeker looking, thinner and light weight computers compared to those which use Li-ion battery.
The new trend is that most of the new high end notebooks have started to use this battery technology in their new machines and now all MacBook Pro use lithium polymer batteries, which helped these laptop increase their battery life from 5 hrs to 7 hrs without increasing any weight.
If you happen to purchase a notebook / netbook with these new lithium polymer batteries make sure they have a battery life of around 5 hrs or more, or if you are a road-warrior stick to a notebook that has the older Li-ion battery coz if you are stuck in the middle of the road you just can swap for another backup battery.
