Socom Confrontation Review, Hate to love it

Socom Confrontation is the latest game a online tactical shooter exclusive for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) gaming console, this is strictly a online mutliplayer game thus has no single player campaign or a split screen mode, though the game has not yet launched in India but I was waiting for it to launch for such a long time that I got it via the US Playstation Network (PSN) about 2 weeks back and my views regarding the same.

A brief history, The Socom series is a highly anticipated on the PlayStation, in short it’s the counter-strike game for PlayStation as many I was also waiting for quite some time for the launch of Socom Confrontation the first next generation Socom Series in high-definition on the PS3. (more…)

An affordable Windows Smartphone from HTC P3400i

I recently wanted to buy a new GSM Smartphone but I had a limited budget of around Rs 10,000 I knew I wanted to buy a Smartphone phone that can easily sync with my address books, notes, contacts etc and works easily with outlook.

I was not even considering HTC Smartphone as I always thought their phones were upwards of 15,000 and my budget was around 10,000 but to my surprise I found this little wonder known as HTC P3400i

HTC P3400i is a windows mobile touch screen phone and its around the 10,000 mark and its much better than many expensive phones in the market a phone that is true value of money. (more…)

Review of Reliance Broadband - Reliance Broadnet

I have moved to a new location a couple of months and I wanted to shift my Airtel broadband connection to the same as I was very happy with the same, but Airtel could not provide the connection at the new location as they did not have empty slots in the new location.

Even BSNL broadband had a long waiting time but Reliance broadband was readily available hence I took up the Reliance broadband connection this service is known as reliance broadnet and here are my views regarding the same.

PS3 vs Xbox 360 which next gen console!

The latest next generation consoles that are officially available in India are the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the Playstation 3 commonly known as PS3 the successor to the hugely popular PS2 from Sony, I have the opportunity of owning both the consoles so here are my views regarding the same.

For the sake of comparison I will compare the premium models of these consoles, PS3 is currently selling only one model officially in India, both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 are next generation consoles and support games in high definition (you got to have a HDTV if you want to really enjoy these games) if you already have an HDTV these consoles will be your entry point in the HDTV era, both these consoles are very powerful piece of hardware and I won’t get into a debate which one has a edge as both of them are pretty powerful, personally I own the Premium Xbox 360 and a 40GB PS3 console.

200kbps is not offically broadband as per FCC!

Did you know that broadband speeds officially in US were speeds of 200kbps or more, yeah I had a laugh reading that at least in India it’s speeds of 256kbps or more, now the US FCC has revamped the much needed broadband minimum speed and its set to 768kbps!

Well I hope this change gets our indian telecom authority to take notice of the same, coz there were a lot of rumors early this year that the minimum broadband speeds in india would be boosted from the current figure of 256kbps, later on it was termed that 256kbps is more than enough to term a service as broadband comparing it with US where speeds of over 200kbps were termed as broadband.

Review: Reliance Net Connect USB modem

I had recently taken an Reliance USB data modem as a secondary connection to connect to the net wirelessly when I am traveling and below are my views regarding the same.

I had purchase the Huawei EC325 USB data modem model for Rs 2,850 they have an current offer in which the first 2 months of usage is free and the dealer said that form the third month the billing will start with a default plan on Rs 650/month for I GB of data, and I could choose any other data plan that I wish, the reason I choose the USB modem model over the PC PCMCIA is that I can connect this USB modem even to my standard desktop if needed.

Microsoft releases Vista SP1 to Public

Microsoft had released the much waited Service Pack for Vista SP1 after months of waiting and interim release candidate for public download, you can also expect retail copies of vista with SP1 in stores in a couple of weeks.

As for the SP1 the updates should be visible via Windows Update (for most of you) but if your machine has some problematic drivers that Microsoft has identified the SP1 update wont be there for you until newer drivers get released, You can also download the full SP1 from the links given below.

Airtel 1 MBPS Unlimited Plan for Home users

Airtel broadband has started 1 Mbps unlimited data transfer plans for Rs 2222 / month + tax, which is quite good for users who download a lot of content and don’t want to be worried about how much bandwidth they have consumed, the nearest similar plan that is offered by TATA broadband is 1 Mbps unlimited for Rs 3600 / month.

This new plan have been introduced for Delhi and Kolkata and I am sure that this service would be announced shortly for other areas as well, I hope this would also result in a healthy competition with other ISP’s also offering similar options. (more…)

Cheap tactics by Private Telecom Operators

I have a Airtel land line phone connection and a broadband connection on the same, I am very happy with their broadband and telephony services that I have recommend quite a few people regarding the same and generally there support is good and top notch. In this month telephone bill I noticed that I was billed for Hello tunes though I have never ever subscribed or opted for this service, I thought that it was a small mistake on their part and I paid the entire bill amount for the month.

Today I called up there customer support so as to remove this service from my account so that I should not be billed for the same next month, after going through a myriad of options via there IVS system I was finally able to reach a customer support representative. (more…)
