I have moved to a new location a couple of months and I wanted to shift my Airtel broadband connection to the same as I was very happy with the same, but Airtel could not provide the connection at the new location as they did not have empty slots in the new location.

Even BSNL broadband had a long waiting time but Reliance broadband was readily available hence I took up the Reliance broadband connection this service is known as reliance broadnet and here are my views regarding the same.

Did you know that broadband speeds officially in US were speeds of 200kbps or more, yeah I had a laugh reading that at least in India it’s speeds of 256kbps or more, now the US FCC has revamped the much needed broadband minimum speed and its set to  768kbps!
Well I hope this change gets our indian telecom authority to take notice of the same, coz there were a lot of rumors early this year that the minimum broadband speeds in india would be boosted from the current figure of  256kbps, …

Airtel broadband has started 1 Mbps unlimited data transfer plans for Rs 2222 / month + tax, which is quite good for users who download a lot of content and don’t want to be worried about how much bandwidth they have consumed, the nearest similar plan that is offered by TATA broadband is 1 Mbps unlimited for Rs 3600 / month.

This new plan have been introduced for Delhi and Kolkata and I am sure that this service would be announced shortly for other areas as well, I hope this …

Just last week I heard news that TRAI was going to bump the minimum speed for broadband from 256kpbs to 2Mbps, I was overjoyed but I don’t think so it’s going to happen, TRAI is now justifying that 256kpbs is an acceptable speed to define broadband in India.
According to TRAI even in US the FFC defines speeds in excess of 200kbps as broadband.
In 2008 Look forward to get broadband via new mediums like DTH, 3G, Wifi and WiMAX. Currently most of the broadband connections in India are via DSL then …

8Mbps is the fastest consumer internet connection in India, during this weekend Airtel broadband guys have gone nuts (must be doing some testing) but for the past 2 days I am on 8Mbps connection instead of my regular 2 Mbps plan, so I took this opportunity to test the 8Mbps connection and my reactions are mixed, its fast as promised and if the server supports I was able to reach about 7Mbps (about 850 kb/sec) of speeds which is cool, but the sad part is only a handful of servers …

The broadband revolution was kick started in India by BSNL broadband service known as Dataone around Jan 2005, Seriously before BSNL broadband, the so call broadband that was given by local cable wallas and they were proud to call 64kpbs as broadband some even advertised 32kpbs as broadband, I am glad that at least that is over now, but it’s almost 3 years from the start of broadband revolution let’s take a view how far we have reached in terms of broadband penetration in India.

So the browser wars are indeed heating up, You might already known that Firefox 3 is scheduled to come in 2008 currently the beta is available, but IE8 in 2008 is a surprise to me coz IE7 was released in October 2006, IE 7 required Windows XP with SP2 and was also later on bundled with MS Vista.

What surprises me is that IE6 was released in Aug 2001 and, it took Microsoft’s IE team about 5 odd years to get to IE7 (in Oct 2006) and now just …

* Internet Explorer is more commonly known as “the Internet” when you say “open the Internet”, you mean opening IE. You have no idea what a “browser” is, or that there are alternatives to IE.
* Even search engines aren’t excluded from the above; to go to Yahoo, you search for “yahoo” in MSN Search or Google (whichever you use as your start page).
* You’d never even think of using the Internet for leisure or learning; there’s nothing even vaguely interesting there. (Exception: chat rooms and MSN Messenger are cool. …
